Our community has an extra special person this year! Kyeti Morgan 06' has come back to EW to assist in our science classroom.
After graduating from EW in 2006, she attended Blanchet High School. She is currently a student at Central Washington University, and she is getting her Master in Education.
Can you share a favorite memory from middle school?
One of my favorite memories from middle school was the spring 8th-grade backpacking trip to the coast. I remember loving walking through the rainforest and the beach and laughing with my friends. I think on that trip we also had a huge game of capture the flag going which was a blast.
What made you decide to come back to EW?
It was totally a coincidence! My school placement coordinator was having trouble placing me in a nearby public middle school, and so she asked if I would be okay getting placed in a private school. I said I was okay with that, and then she told me it would be Explorer West! I burst out laughing when I read her email and replied that I would be happy to be placed at EW.
What are you excited to teach this year?
I am especially excited to teach 8th-grade earth science because I studied volcanoes and got an MS in geology before deciding to become a teacher.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to be outside hiking, camping, rock climbing, and skiing. I also love being crafty and beading, knitting, and weaving. I am also really interested in gardening, but I don't have a good outdoor spot, so I have a lot of houseplants 🙂
What's one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I have a floofy cat named Ron, and I am still super close with two of my friends from when I was in middle school at EW.
Kyeti has been helping the 6th graders build their snow shoes, a project that wasn't part of the curriculum when she was in 6th grade. She's excited to try them out next week!
