Thank you for your interest in Explorer West Middle School!
Explorer West Middle School is a small, independent middle school in West Seattle where young people thrive. Our faculty and staff focus on the individual student to meet them where they are and build on their strengths and address areas where they need to grow. Explorer West Middle School combines academic rigor with a particular emphasis on the character of each student by fostering confidence and discovery. Here’s what one Explorer West parent has to say:
We know that choosing the best school for your child is essential to you. Our application process is designed to give our Admissions Committee relevant information about each applicant while also providing families with the opportunity to learn more about our middle school.
If you are interested in Explorer West for the Fall of 2020, we are excited to meet your family and introduce you to our school. We encourage you to register for one of our three open houses this fall. Open houses are the best way for families to become familiar with our school before deciding to apply. If you are researching schools for your 4th grade or younger student, an open house is where you should start. Family visits during school hours are reserved for families applying for the Fall of 2020 and require the submission of the family application and the application fee. Visits last approximately three hours and include the student and family. Please call the school to discuss any other questions you have.
Applications for Fall of 2020 are due on January 16, 2020. We are excited to use Ravenna this year for our online application system. We are finalizing the process, but through Ravenna, you can create a profile, register for one of our Open House events, and be notified when our application opens. Please visit Ravenna and choose “exploring” Explorer West. If you have additional questions, please contact our Director of Admissions, at 206-935-0495.
Opportunities to Learn More about Explorer West in-person
We host three Open Houses. We recommend all families attend an open house before scheduling a visit. If you have students who are in 4th grade or younger, this is the best opportunity to research and learn more about the school for future admissions.
