Community Partners
Although Explorer West has a highly engaged and supportive on-campus community of families, students, faculty and staff; our off-campus community partners are essential contributors to helping Explorer West redefine the middle school experience for our students.
Community Outreach – Explorer West students participate in learning beyond the classroom with civic responsibility and community involvement that includes environmental stewardship and hands-on volunteerism. The school community participates in outreach efforts in the local West Seattle/White Center neighborhoods as well as outdoor educational learning and sustainability initiatives across the state. Some organizations that either help facilitate these efforts or are recipients of these outreach programs:
- Community Orchard of West Seattle
- Green Cities Program
- Green Schools Alliance
- Roxhill Elementary School
- Seattle Parks and Recreation
- Seattle Public Utilities
- Sound Experience
- South Seattle Community College
- Team Read
- Washington Foundation for the Environment
- Washington Trails Association
- White Center Food Bank
Explorer West Patrons – Various outside community members also provide Explorer West with resources that boost the school’s ability to deliver on its mission. These organizations and individuals have provided the school with much needed resources in the forms of donated materials and/or in-kind services. Their generosity is appreciated and makes a huge difference in helping us deliver a stellar middle school experience for our students.
