Program Updates: PE/Health – May 2025

PE (Terra)

In PE, the 6th and 7th grade students have been playing “The Box Game,” which is a game similar to Capture the Flag, but with frisbees, with the goal of trying to get as many as possible in the opponent's “box."  The students seem to love playing this game.

Some of the students thought it was “too hot” outside.  It was only 68 degrees! I suppose if you grew up here in the Pacific Northwest, that makes sense. I found it funny to think 68 degrees was hot. I grew up in Hawaii, and we wore thick winter coats when it dropped below 70 degrees.

Eighth grade students learned a modified cricket game using plastic baseball bats, a light ball, cones and tennis balls balanced on top to act as wickets, and upside down frisbees to act as bases instead of the hitters' crease. The pair of batters were considered a team, and everyone worked together to get the batters out. If a pair scored 5 runs or accumulated 3 outs, they rotated out and the two pitchers (bowlers) became the next batters and two new pitchers (bowlers) rotated in from the outfield. Students have had a lot of fun with this new unit!
