Music Update: January 2026
"Rewrite a Song" Project
Before Winter Break, students worked on the “Rewrite a Song” project in music class. On their own or in small groups, students chose a song and created new lyrics around a topic of their choice.
They spent a couple of class sessions brainstorming, writing, and polishing their songs before sharing them with the rest of their classmates.
It was so fun to hear the creative topics students came up with, and to even see some of the groups perform their songs.
I have included a verse or two of a few of the rewritten songs below for you to enjoy!

Seventh Grade
Rewrite of "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles
By Quincy, Amelia, Korben
In the school where we all go,
We went hiking for OE,
Through the grass and through the trees,
Through the land of evergreen.
But the food was not the best,
It put our stomachs to the test.
We set up a little camp,
Just hoping to get some rest.
We all slept in a dirty rugged tent,
Dirty rugged tent, dirty rugged tent.
We all slept in a dirty rugged tent,
Dirty rugged tent, dirty rugged tent.
Eighth Grade
Rewrite of "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor
Renamed “Eyes of the Dragon” by Andy, William, Oliver C
Risin' up, back in the games
Fought for life, took my chances
Slept the backflip, now I'm back on my face
Just some fools, and they’re driven by life
So many times, now I’m in a big hole
You trade your famine for moon rocks
Don't lose your grip on the shield or the sword
You must fight just to keep them all down
It's the eyes of the dragon, it's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the toxin of our rival
And the few known survivors run away in the night
And it’s watching us all with the eyes of the dragon
