While Explorer West has had to make a massive shift to remote learning, our teachers and students have worked hard to maintain our community bonds. We’ve added some fun clubs and afterschool activities that keep us connected…and smiling!
Last week, I joined the Harry Potter Club for an online escape room adventure. Seeing the kids collaborate and problem-solve made me smile!
Kristin, our science teacher, held a workshop in a very unique art form…banana peel art!
This afternoon, Sarah, our art teacher, kicks off a series of fiber arts classes. For the first class, she’ll be teaching students how to weave using forks!
The creativity has been astounding! Future offerings in the works include:
- Italian language practice
- Dance, Yoga, and more!
- Make your own geodes
- Baking classes
During lunchtime and after class, you may pop into a zoom meeting and see students working collaboratively on assignments, playing Pictionary, or getting some extra math help in Pi Eaters Club.
As hard as it is to not be in our building together, I am proud to be part of a school that believes in the importance of relationships!
Stay tuned for a video tutorial to make your own banana art!
