Spring outdoor education is always a highlight as our year comes to a close. This year, 6th and 7th grades participated in day trips and hikes all around Puget Sound including Rattlesnake Ridge, Little Si, Discovery Park, and local sites like Alki Beach and Constellation Park. Students got to visit the Duwamish Long House and Cultural Center and learned about our community's cultural and natural history with a Duwamish Elder. They also participated in a day of service, with all grades helping to beautify our neighborhood and surrounding community.
The same week, 8th-grade students embarked on their annual spring backpacking trip with groups going to the Ozette Triangle and Rialto Beach on the Olympic Peninsula. Asked about their biggest challenges, one 8th grader said "I think hiking for so long. I was able to overcome it by not giving up and having my friends to motivate me through the tough times..." Other students were thankful for the meals around fires, time spent with friends, and "hiking through the magical cove!"
Thank you to our faculty and staff for ending the year with these amazing trips, and thank you to family chaperones that helped make these days a reality.
We look forward to new adventures in the fall!
