Seventh graders have already accomplished a lot with their new Latin textbook, Suburani, the ongoing tale of Romans living in a busy section of the eternal city. Students are reading, writing, and speaking Latin. The new textbook uses graphic-novel style presentations to aid in students' deciphering of new vocabulary. Every picture tells a story, and that story is in Latin. We master new vocabulary and then apply it by composing our sentences and questions in Latin. Picking up grammatical concepts becomes second nature with this approach. We read Latin aloud, translating to English as we go, and answering questions in spoken Latin.
It's a new world of Latin at EW, and the students are rockin' it!
