Explorer West Students to Compete in Environmental Slam on April 22, 2021

Washington Foundation for the Environment (WFFE) hosts a yearly Environmental Slam. This student-focused, community event features middle and high school youth tackling local and actionable environmental issues. On teams or individually, students present their chosen issue for an audience in the spirit of a slam-style performance. Students have been crafting their performances. And, their short, lively presentations can feature anything from songs to stories to short plays!  Also, participants are competing for prizes. Each team will direct a $50 donation from WFFE to the environmental nonprofit of their choice. Additionally, three teams will receive an additional $500 donation in their name to the environmental nonprofit of their choice. Two of these awards will be given by judges, and one award will be an audience vote.

This year, Five Explorer West teams will compete with other regional teams. The live Zoom event will start at 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 22nd. Come support our teams with your audience vote!

Our weekly bulletin will have Zoom info. Please contact Tim Owens, Social Studies Teacher and Co-Dean of Students for more information.
