Celebrate Black History Month by Dawn Fornear

Hi Falcons & Families!

There are many interesting events coming up in West Seattle, and beyond,  that you may be interested in participating in.

Black History Month

We are finalizing some events at Explorer West and with other Community Resources. We would love to do a book read as a community, and we are considering the following:

  • Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds
  • Caste: The Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson
  • Born a Crime by Trevor Noah

All three have young adult versions & adult versions. If you have any preference or other suggestions, please email Dawn Fornear at . Additionally, we are partnering with Paper Boat Booksellers to do some storytimes on Saturdays with Black-authored books. We will have official dates, times, and details soon, but we hope your student will be interested in participating.
