Explorer West Alumni Raise Funds for Local Non-profit

After completing their Change the World Project in 8th Grade, Sage, Jaydenn, and Makenzie pledged to fundraise for a local group, The Genesis Project Seattle. The students met with Sydney Lindell, Genesis Project's Case Management and Programs Director. The discussed ways the Explorer West community could help.

Sage says
"The Seattle Genesis Project is an organization that helps victims of sex trafficking by acting as a drop-in shelter for survivors where they are provided with many resources including counseling, educational opportunities, and legal help. They also have a bedroom where survivors who need a place to sleep for the night can stay until the Seattle Genesis Project connects them with a more permanent housing program.
The organization’s Case Management and Programs Director told us that updating this room was one of their biggest fundraising needs. This would make the space feel more comforting and home-like for survivors who need to stay there. To make this goal happen, we just need to raise $1,000, and it would make a great difference in the lives of survivors of sex trafficking who seek help from the Seattle Genesis Project.

We would really appreciate it if you are able to donate! Any amount makes a difference. Thank you!"
