It’s that time of the year, when we lean into our supportive community to launch our annual fundraising efforts! Our theme this year is Soup’s On – A Recipe for Community. We see our school as a place where, through an artful meld of humble ingredients and some careful tending, magical things get made. Maybe that happens in your kitchen when you’re making your favorite cold-weather soups or stews! Here, it’s the rigorous and enriching program, the skillful and wise teachers, the incredible mix of spirited and creative students, and their supportive and engaged families.
We’ll be having fun with our Soup’s On theme over the next several weeks, as we celebrate Explorer West and the ways our supporters help us amplify our impact. This year, we’re creating equitable fundraising goals via a direct giving campaign and that instead of an auction we will throw a party in the spring to celebrate our success. We are hoping to achieve a 100% participation rate from our families! (We’re already there with our Board of Trustees.)
How much should you give? That is, of course, entirely up to you. We know that by paying tuition you have made a meaningful financial commitment to your child’s education, and that different families have varying abilities to extend that commitment through philanthropic giving. Seventh and eighth grade families, the letter you get from me will remind you of your giving history in the past, including Annual Fund and auction gifts and expenses, and will suggest a giving amount based on that history. Sixth grade families, we ask that you consider your own circumstances and ability to contribute to the school in a meaningful way. Please reach out to me if you’d like to discuss your family’s plans for giving, reasons for giving, or any other aspect of our development program.
At Explorer West we try our hardest to steward our resources carefully for the greatest impact, reducing unnecessary expenses so we can focus on what matters most. We are incredibly grateful for your support, and are excited to transition to a new approach to fundraising at Explorer West that feels more inclusive and equitable. Thank you for being part of it.
