Applying to Explorer West Middle School
We welcome interested families to learn more about our school by exploring our web site or contacting our admissions team. If you are ready to apply, please schedule an applicant/parent visit day. This is an opportunity to meet our staff, faculty, and students, as well as tour the facility. Applicants will shadow a student host and visit classes. Applicants will also have an interview and assessment the same morning.
Returning students do not have to complete the application process again. Families will be mailed a re-enrollment contract in January for the following year. Please note, however, that families must re-apply for financial aid each year.

Once a family has decided to apply to Explorer West Middle School, they must complete a couple of steps to insure that we have the information we need to process an enrollment decision.
Step 1: Submit Application Materials. All materials must be received by Explorer West Middle School by Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 4pm. Ask your current school Registrar and two teachers for their assistance in the application process. Have them complete the forms below and mail them directly to Explorer West Middle School by January 14, 2014:
- Turn in School Records Request Form to your current school Registrar.
- Ask two teachers to complete a Teacher Evaluation Form
In addition, please submit the following -
- Two page Application Form. Please attach a small photo of your child. This form is required before Applicant/Parent Visit day along with application fee.
- Application fee of $55. Please make checks payable to “Explorer West Middle School”.
- Parent Input Form
- Applicant Essay (Completed on your applicant/parent visit day)
Step 2: Schedule an Applicant/Parent Visit.
Explorer West Middle School requires that all applicants and their parents/guardians spend a morning visiting the school by Tuesday, January 7, 2014. (Late applications are processed on a space available basis.) Parents observe classes and tour on the same morning of their student’s required applicant visit. This is an ideal time for parents to ask us questions. This visit is also a way for families to decide if their educational goals and values match well with ours. Applicants spend the morning visiting classes with a student host and will have an interview and assessment on their applicant visit day.
