Ready to apply?
We are currently accepting applications for incoming sixth through eighth-grade students for the Fall of 2020 through Ravenna.
Our application process allows your family and the school to ensure our program is a good fit for your student. In addition to the application forms and questions, families visit Explorer West to experience a morning in our community.
Our Process
Start your application by “Exploring” our school on Ravenna and registering your student. From there, you can sign up for an Open House and see the steps to apply. If you have a Ravenna account and are ready to schedule a Family Visit, choose the “Apply” option on Ravenna to begin the Family Application. Currently, visits can be scheduled through Ravenna following the submission of your application. A quick-start guide to Ravenna can be found here.
Application Requirements
The following items must be completed or submitted through Ravenna to be considered for admission.
- Family Application
- Application Fee- $60 payable through Ravenna. If you need to pay with cash or check, please contact the Director of Admission
- Family Visit
- Parent/Guardian Input Form
- Two teacher evaluations
- School Records, including current and previous years’ transcripts/grades/comments
Testing
Explorer West does not require outside entrance exams, like the ISEE or SSAT, for admission. Instead, during the Family Visit, students complete a 30-minute evaluation to assess their math and writing skills. Our goal is to understand the level of mastery students have achieved on their grade-level skills. We aim for this to be a low-pressure environment and to be a window into their abilities and personality. If your student is taking the ISEE or the SSAT for admission to other schools, we encourage you to share those results with us, but they are not required.
