Thank you for your interest in Explorer West Middle School!
Explorer West Middle School is a small learning community where young people thrive. Our faculty and staff focus on the individual student to meet them where they are and build on their strengths and address areas where they need to grow. Explorer West Middle School combines academic rigor with a special emphasis on the character of each student by fostering confidence and discovery.
“Time has sculpted us all into something new, something better, and something that we could only dream about three years ago.”- 2013 Graduate
We know that choosing the best school for your child is important to you. Our application process is designed to give our Admissions Committee relevant information about each applicant while also providing families with the opportunity to learn more about our middle school.
If you are interested in Explorer West for the Fall of 2016, we are excited to meet your family and introduce you to our school. In order to visit the school at this point of the year, we require the Family Application, Parent Input Form, the last two years of grades for your student and the application fee, before scheduling a visit. Forms and information can be found by clicking here. All application material is required to make a final decision for admission and should be completed as soon as possible after the visit. Visits generally last three hours and include the student and family. Please call the school to discuss any other questions you have.
There are several ways to engage with our community before scheduling a Family Visit and submitting and application. Applications for Fall of 2016 are due on January 14, 2016. To review our process and download application materials, please visit our Admission Forms page. If you have additional questions, please contact Katie Auker, Admissions Director, at 206-935-0495.

We host three Open Houses. We recommend all families attend an Open House before scheduling a visit. If you have students who are in 4th grade or younger, this is the best opportunity to research and learn more about the school for future admissions.
Join us for our Free Community Parent Education Night.
