Thank you for your interest in Explorer West Middle School!
Explorer West Middle School is a small learning community where young people thrive. Our faculty and staff focus on the individual student to meet them where they are and build on their strengths and address areas where they need to grow. Explorer West Middle School combines academic rigor with a special emphasis on the character of each student by fostering confidence and discovery.
“Time has sculpted us all into something new, something better, and something that we could only dream about three years ago.”- 2013 Graduate
We know that choosing the best school for your child is important to you. Our application process is designed to give our Admissions Committee relevant information about each applicant while also providing families with the opportunity to learn more about our middle school.
If you are interested in Explorer West for the Fall of 2017, we are excited to meet your family and introduce you to our school. We encourage you to register for one of our three Open Houses this Fall. Open Houses are the best way for families to become familiar with our school before deciding to apply. If you are researching schools for your 4th grade or younger student, an Open House is where you should start. Family Visits during school hours are reserved for families applying for Fall of 2017 and require the submission of the Family Application and the Application Fee. Visits generally last three hours and include the student and family. Please call the school to discuss any other questions you have.
Applications for Fall of 2017 are due on January 12, 2017. To review our process and download application materials, please visit our Admission Forms page. If you have additional questions, please contact Katie Auker, Director of Admissions, at 206-935-0495.
Opportunities to Learn More about Explorer West in Person
We host three Open Houses. We recommend all families attend an Open House before scheduling a visit. If you have students who are in 4th grade or younger, this is the best opportunity to research and learn more about the school for future admissions.
Visit us at a Fair. Explorer West participates in two local school fairs. Stop by the booth to meet our Director of Admissions and Head of School.
